Course Overview
This course will provide students with the opportunity to learn and understand this rapidly-growing alternative fuel system. Through both theory and hands-on training, students will learn how to safely work with high pressure CNG fuel, understand how system components work, and be able to inspect CNG fuel systems. Students must pass the exam for this course to be eligible to write the Technical Safety BC’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion certificate of qualification Exam.
Prerequisite(s)
- A Red Seal in one of the following programs: Truck and Transport Mechanic, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Automotive Service Technician

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the properties of natural gas
- Describe how to safely work with high pressure CNG
- Understand and describe individual components in a CNG fuel system
- Describe regulations that affect the use of CNG
- Describe and demonstrate how to inspect CNG fuel systems
- Describe how to troubleshoot and maintain CNG fuel systems
- Describe filling and defueling procedures for CNG fuel systems
